Hello,
Welcome to my website and to the complementary 'Tools and Skills' program for health and well-being. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a listed member in the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry, with an office in Boca Raton, Florida, at the Boca Raton airport, serving south Florida and the world.
Now on Skype, I am available for consultation to any location in the world for either clinical or sports related issues. My Skype 'name' is 'drmccauley'. Whether in the office or on Skype, I work with families, couples, and individuals who are struggling with mood disorders including depression and anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, trauma, conduct disorders, juvenile acting out, PTSD and other mental health conditions.
I work with individual athletes developing individualized programs to meet their needs for sport specific mastery and with teams to cultivate team building skills.
My hope is that through this website you will learn enough about me and my approach to therapy that you can make the decision about whether we might work well together. I provide patients with a safe and thought-provoking environment where they can talk about personal feelings and thoughts; learn ways to resolve the pain of their lives; find more meaning and happiness both personally and professionally; and for the athlete, whether amateur or professional, I present an opportunity to learn the skills necessary to achieve excellence.
There is confusion about differences between psychotherapy and counseling. Counselors give advice for everyday problems. Counseling does not provide understanding at the level necessary for change. Counselors focus only on the surface issues. Psychotherapy explores the deeper unconscious aspects of peoples’ lives; it is a process of resolution and not simply problem solving.
The links on the left will provide answers to most of your questions regarding my practice. Call me to discuss how psychotherapy can be of help to you or to schedule an appointment.
